Setup new blade - can't get switch config right
I've been asked to setup a new blade (running ESX 3.5) and need to setup the cisco 9124e fiber switch to a new disk array (connected via msa1500).
This was setup by a colleague of mine and is all new to me!
The new server is in bay9 has a WWN of 50:01:43:80:02:a0:25:5c
50:01:43:80:02:a0:25:5e
Currently the server in bay 1 can see all arrays (twice). The WWN of that is...
50:01:43:80:00:ac:72:ec
50:01:43:80:00:ac:72:ee
the config of the fiber switch is attached.
I'd be really, really grateful if someone can cast their eye over the config and let me know where I've gone wrong?
Cheers,
Al

Re: Setup new blade - can't get switch config right
50:01:43:80:02:a0:25:5c
50:01:43:80:02:a0:25:5e
in any zone
idea is to put in a same zone
- server FC port WWN connected to this interconnect
- storage FC port WWN
and add this zone to your zoneset
of course You have to do it similar in another switch (in case you have reduntant FC fabrics)

Re: Setup new blade - can't get switch config right
zone name CHESX vsan 1
member interface bay9 swwn 20:00:00:0d:ec:46:f1:40
member interface ext2 swwn 20:00:00:0d:ec:46:f1:40
member interface ext1 swwn 20:00:00:0d:ec:46:f1:40
You don't use the switch port WWNs. Use server FC HBA WWNs and the storage ports WWNs

Re: Setup new blade - can't get switch config right
Thanks for coming back. There is only 1 fibre switch in the blade enclosure.
The MSA 1500 has a WWN of 500508B30093DF81. Is that what I need to zone with the servers FC port? If not I'm unsure how to get the wwn of the storage (this is new to me!). The blade enclosure connects to the msa1500 via fibre which in turn is connect to 3 trays of disks.
What I (also) don't understand is how the server in bay1 is able to see all arrays???
thanks again for your help,
Al

If not, you can use the CLI over serial line.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Setup new blade - can't get switch config right
Have you re-activated your zoneset after making the changes?
"Currently the server in bay 1 can see all arrays (twice)."
What OS? You see your storage twice because there are 2 paths to your array.
Can you rerun some commands on the switch and attach here...
show zone
show zoneset
show running
show startup
