Swapping 1/10Gb VC-Enet Module with Flex-10

Hi -

I'm thinking soon I may swap the 'old' style virtual connect 1/10Gbe modules with Flex-10 (devices are in bays 1 & 2 on a c7000). Is there any way of doing this without using the vc domain config?

I was wondering if the active 1/10Gbe module is in bay 1, could i swap the 1/10Gbe in bay 2 & expect the two different modules to talk to each other? Failing over & swapping the module in bay 1 would complete the work.

Thanks,
Julian.

Julian,

You can only install VC Flex-10 Modules into bays horizontally adjacent to bays containing VC Flex-10 Modules.
If they are different, Interconnect Bay 2 shows as UNKNOWN and any connection to Bay 2 will be down.

Julian,
I dont think it is possible to perform this upgrade without disrupting you network connectivity to your blades. See the procedure in

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01732252/c01732252.pdf

pages 47-48.

Thanks, that document says it all - Backup config, replace modules & restore.

Many thanks,
Julian.
