Trunk Configuration for ESX 4.1 on BL460Cs in a c7000 Enclosure
Hi everyone.
I'm having a bit of a problem configuring a trunk between the c7000 enclosure and an HP 4204vl core switch.
The background:
- 3 ESX4.1 hosts, each on a BL460C
- 4 Ethernet modules GbE2c on the c7000 enclosure (bays 1 through 4)
- HP 4204vl core switch
- 2 Ethernet 24Port Modules on the core switch
- 7 VLANs already configured on the core switch and working
- The goal is to integrate the ESX hosts into the production environment
What I've done so far:
- I've setup Trk2 (Trunk Mode) on Module A on the core switch
- I've setup Trk3 (Trunk Mode) on Module B on the core switch
- I've configured the same VLANs on the GbE2c modules and added the ports that are connecting to the core switch to those VLANs (had to enable VLAN tagging on the ports to be able to add them to several VLANs)
- Configured a Trunk on the GbE2c modules with the connecting ports in it
I'd like to implement VST on the vSphere side so I can control VLANs on the Port Groups in vSphere. For this I'd need all VLANs to go over the trunk between the enclosure modules and the core switch.
I'm a bit of a newb with this kind of setup so please bare with me. Any help would be much appreciated.
Let me know if there's any other info you need.
Many thanks.
Alex

Nope, I don't have your answers. Hoping someone does. I just want the replies.
