Unable to upgrade HP Insight Diagnostics

Good evening,

I have HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition for Windows Server 2003/2008 version 7.9.1.2401 installed. The support pack version (Windows Server 2003 8.10A)is 8.1.0.2718 and the latest is 8.1.5.2890.

This item is the only discrepeancy I have. However I am unable to install any of the newer versions:

Command Line Parameters Given: /force /silent

Name: HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition for Windows
New Version: 8.1.5.2890

Beginning Silent Session...

The software is installed but is not up to date.
Current Version: 7.9.1.2401

- the component will be updated to the new version

The operation was not successful.
windows installer exit code is: 1638

Any idea?

Thanks

Franck

Re: Unable to upgrade HP Insight Diagnostics

Are you just updating the Diagnostics or the entire PSP?
You could try removing the previous version manually before doing the install.
Another option is to run the cpnnnnn.exe file and extract it and then run the resulting install file directly - I've sometimes seen that give a clear error message.

Re: Unable to upgrade HP Insight Diagnostics

It was just the diagnostics. Anyway manually unintsalling and manually installing cpxxxx.exe worked!

Thanks
