Re: Virtual Connect FC Modules - Blades NOT-LOGGED-IN

Guys,
thanks for all your replies, i decided to power cycle all of the vc modules , ethernet and fibre (after I informed all users that network would be down for a few mins), this has kicked things into life and the blades are now logging into the fabric. Phew !

All updated to 2.32 about 6 weeks ago (before 2.33 came out).

Re: Virtual Connect FC Modules - Blades NOT-LOGGED-IN

I'm having this same problem on a new C7000 with latest flashes on the VC, HBAs, and interconnect cards. NPIV is enabled on connecting switch ports. Did just rebooting the fiber VC cards really fix this issue?

All my servers are running HP's version of esxi 4.0 with all updates applied. You can see the port there in the VCEM assigned to the server, but it won't log in and when there's no balancing of I/O going on to the SANs because of it.

not just the fc modules but the entire vc domain was power cycled ethernet modules too (as they run vcm), good luck!

Re: Virtual Connect FC Modules - Blades NOT-LOGGED-IN

Booting the whole VC set of cards does force the ports back to "LOGGED-IN". I'm hoping that they stay that way. I've also got a ticket open with HP on the issue.

Re: Virtual Connect FC Modules - Blades NOT-LOGGED-IN

Hi,

i├В┬┤ve the same problem here. On your hint, i├В┬┤ve resetted all of the VC switches (2xFlex-10, 2x 4GB VC-FC).
But the problem still persists.
How do you made the resets. Directly on the hardware or via Blade OBA?
I├В┬┤ve done it via OBA--> Interconnect Bays--> virtual buttons-->reset

Re: Virtual Connect FC Modules - Blades NOT-LOGGED-IN

I popped the cards out and replaced them. But this only fixed the problem for a short time. I've now flashed everything again. It was installed first of this August and flashed by HP, but already there are new firmware flashes for the Emulex HBAs. I'm currently testing those flashes.

Re: Virtual Connect FC Modules - Blades NOT-LOGGED-IN

Hi guys,

Restarting of the VC Modules doesn├В┬┤t solve the problem in my case.
After a while browsing the HP Knowledgebase i found
https://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docId=emr_na-c01965820&docLocale=en&admit=109447627+1283868799207+28353475

As i had the 1.30 on the VC-FC Modules i did the update to 1.40 and.... strike!
This solved the problem.
