Virtual Connect - Uplink port set - does it use all the ports in the port set?

Hi,

We have set up the HP 1/10Gb Virtual Connect Ethernet Module for c-Class BladeSystem to connect to 2 different networks. We have 4 external ports in a port set connected to network A, and 4 external ports connected in a port set to network B.

Virtual Connect does not seem to load balance across all the ports, but rather only uses port 1.

Does this feature only currently provide failover capability? The documentation seems to imply that it does load balancing as well?

Thanks
Andrew

Hi,

You can do a load balancing by creating a two port groups for same network.

You said that there is 4 ports connected to network A. I am now assuming that You have only one VC module and You have used all the external ports there.

So for network A, create two portgroups
NetworkA_1 & NetworkA_2 and assing two ports each. Now You have two active uplinks and both have standy link available.

Of course Your OS teaming software must support this and Your LAN switches must be configured right.
