I need server tagging for VMware and network VLANs for Windows servers in the same enclosure.
Is there no way to do this without defining multiple uplinks?
So far i have done this with a single network uplink carrying multiple VLANs, using NCU to map a VLAN to the server adapter on Windows hosts.
This works fine, but the downside is that VLAN connections can be controlled from the OS, and I don't want that.
Is multiple uplinks the only way to go?

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this with a single uplink currently. You will need to have 2 different uplinks as you have done. Or you could use the HP Network Configuration Utility in Windows to enable VLAN tagging support in Windows.
There will be a future firmware upgrade for Virtual Connect to allow what you are trying to accomplish.

Re: Virtual Connect, server tagged AND network vlans using same uplink?
Thanks, I am using the Network Configuration Utility (NCU) VLAN solution on Windows.
But I just discovered some odd things, will open a new thread if they are not sorted out soon.
