Virtual connect IP registers in DNS
I have a problem where the IP from the virtual connect keeps registering in DNS. The blade server has it's own IP (on the OS) but unless I force it to register the IP shows as the wrong one, even then it reverts after a few hours. Any ideas?

Re: Virtual connect IP registers in DNS
Pete, need a bit more info.
What are the names and the ip addresses?
Eg when you say the blade server has its own IP... do you mean ilO or OS?
Sounds like you have things with the same name on multiple IP address.

Re: Virtual connect IP registers in DNS
the "virtual connect", means though one physical link it shows op as different interfaces on the host?
windows tries to register all ip-adresses of all nic's in DNS.
queries to DNS then will "round robin" - cycle through all adresses.
you'll have to go into network settings and in DNS-tab uncheck "register in DNS" option.
for the virtual nic's
or assign other dns-domain namespace to this virtual nic's.
