Virtual connect LACP with CX4 and SFP-RJ45

We've got a C-7000 with 2 VC-flex-10 and we are looking for a way to get maximum bandwith, while remaining redundant.

The two VCs are of course linked using the staking links (x7 and x8)

Each VC is currently connected to an external switch using 4 SFP 1G RJ-45 connectors. Since we have CX4 connectors on our switches, we thought it would be a good idea to connect the VC with the switches using 10G links as such, so that we have more bandwidth. But then we thought about the possible failures. What if one switch fails? What if a cable fails? What if one VC fails? Can we simulate a VC failure? Would it be more secure to add 1G-SFP links into the mix? I've read that the 10G links are mostly for vertical stacking, but I don't really see how it would be useful for us.

Any opinions/insight welcome. Please let me know if you need more information.
