Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V server boot to black screen when DEP is enabled
Hi
I have a HP BL460c it has been running Windows server 2008 R2 for over a half year, now I have updated the blade with everything possible via the newest HP SPP.
Now the server boots to black screen when DEP is enabled.
I have read in another thread that to use DEP the 2 processors need to have the same Stepping.
I my case with this blade, the processers do not have the same stepping, so it is probably the reason why the blade won't start.
But why did it work before? - Can I somehow force Hyper-V to work without DEP, or can I set something so the server can enable DEP even though the stepping isn't the same? or what can I do?
Regards Lars Mortensen

Re: Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V server boot to black screen when DEP is enabled
Hi,
A similar issue is discussed here in this document.

DEP should be enaled from hardware level to support Hyper-V.
Not sure what Generation of BL460c you are referring to in this post.
It will be helpful if you write what is the processor model and BIOS version in your server.
Thank You!

Re: Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V server boot to black screen when DEP is enabled
Hi
The blade is a Gen1.
I switched back to the backup ROM, and the server is now running.
The working ROM is: I15 05/12/2009 and the now working is the newest.
