bl45pG1, 4 AMD 885, latest firmware, unsupported processor detected
I just upgraded a bl45pG1 with 4 AMD 885 DC 2.6
I have the latest proliant bios installed, which is A02 02/14/2007
All 4 cpus are detected on startup:
1 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 885 initalized at 2.60 GHz (1 MB L2)
2 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 885 initalized at 2.60 GHz (1 MB L2)
3 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 885 initalized at 2.60 GHz (1 MB L2)
4 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 885 initalized at 2.60 GHz (1 MB L2)
but afterwards:
Unsupported Processor Detected in Socket 1
Unsupported Processor Detected in Socket 2
Unsupported Processor Detected in Socket 3
Unsupported Processor Detected in Socket 4
System Halted!
I had the system running fine with 4 AMD 852 before. According to the specs and firmware infos, the cpus should be supported.
Any ideas, any help?
thx and
happy xmas

Re: bl45pG1, 4 AMD 885, latest firmware, unsupported processor detected
Were these purchased from HP?
"Use these instructions to install an AMD Opteron processor into a supported HP ProLiant p-Class server blade.
NOTE: Some server blade models ship with one processor installed. Use these instructions to install an optional second processor.
Observe the following processor installation guidelines:
...
***Always use AMD Opteron 800 Series processors purchased from HP."****

Re: bl45pG1, 4 AMD 885, latest firmware, unsupported processor detected
thx cnb for your hints.
unfortunately the cpus are not from hp, the cpuid is OSA885FAA6CC.
The hp cpus are identified with OST885FAA6CC.
;(
*sigghh*
I have no idea, wether there are any functional differences between the cpus, however it seems to me, that the bl45p bios checks for the hp genuine cpu id.
ahmm, anyone out there who needs 8 OSA885FAA6CC???
