bl460c g6 + sb40c + p4000 left hand VSA

hello,

Im totally new at this and need some help...for dummies please.

i bought a c3000 + flex-10 + bl460c g6 + sb40c and want to set up a virtual SAN.

i set up a RAID 1 with internal drives for OS, RAID 5 on the sb40c, installed ESXi 4.0 on the server, uploaded the VSA (p4000 left hand) virtual machine, set a name and an IP, installed CMC on a dl380 g6 and i can connect to the VSA virtual machine via CMC, now...how do i add the 2TB from SB40c to the VSA? what do i need to set up in vmware so it can be seen by the VCA on the software raid page?

thanks for the help

Hi Juan,

On your VSA VM properties, you'll need to add additonal 2TB disk.

For example,

VSA VM properties
Disk 1 = 10gb
Disk 2 = 2TB <---- additional disk

Re: bl460c g6 + sb40c + p4000 left hand VSA

Hello Jason,

I did that already, SCSI 1:0 in persistent mode from local blade HDdrives and SCSI 1:1 for the 2TB sb40c, connect to the VM via CMC, go to storage, try to crear a RAID(virtual) but it says there are no drives to select, here i move to the next tab that says disk and all off them are listed as off.

Note:the sb40c has an auto RAID 5 created and a datastore was created with them with 8mb block size and was added as a virtual hard disk scsi 1:1 to the san/iq software

is this correct? should it be like this or im missing something?

thanks,

JQ

Did you solve this?
Did you try "Power On Disk" from the Disk Setup TAB?
I had to do this to get mine working properly.
