Re: blade bongle

im sorry never heard of that too.
there is a blade Dongle which i explained in my previos post.
it can be used to connect usb mouse, keyboard, dvd drive and vga monitor.
maybe some else can help you

Re: blade bongle

unlike a racked server, blades have no external USB, VGA or serial ports, so there's nowhere to plug in a keyboard, monitor or mouse - or a external USB DVD drive You don't normally need these as you can access all these functions through iLO and the blade chassis OA. In the event for whatever reason you need "local" access to one of these devices, you attach the blade dongle to the front of the blade, and plug in a KVM or a DVD drive.

Re: blade bongle

Just to add to what Duncan has already mentioned, this blade dongle is also called a SUV( Serial USB Video) cable.

Refer to the link below to see what the cable looks and how to use it.( SUV cable and Ports subtopic in teh overview section)

Re: blade bongle

What is a "blade bongle"???

In case of a "dongle", some blade servers have an internal USB connector where you can attach an USB dongle safely.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: blade bongle

There is no such thing as a Blade Bongle.
most likely where-ever you got that from it was a typo.

The Blade Dongle has been accurately described several times above.
Each c7000 chassis comes with 2.
http://www.dectrader.com/images/D/416003-001.jpg

FYI, on newer c7000 Chassis that contain the updated OA Modules, there is a VGA Port on the OA. This allows you to connect a VGA monitor and USB Keyboard/Mouse/DVD to the back of the chassis and access an internal KVM Switch so that the Dongle is not really required.

If you need to connect a USB Key for Software licensing, most Blades have an internal USB port you can use so you dont have to leave the Dongle hanging off the front of the server all the time.

And again, there is no such thing as a Blade BONGLE. :)
