c3000: How to connect BL460c Server to different VLANs?

Hi all,

i'm experiencing the following:
In the c3000 enclosure i have interconect bays such as the "GbE2c Ethernet Blade" switch, and a few bl460c server blades. As you know, each blade server has two ethernet interfaces. I want to connect each interface to different vlans. How can i do this?
At the moment, i have only one ethernet port, port 20, connected to my LAN-Switch, so that all server blades are reachable in the LAN through that one ethernet cable. How can i setup, e.g. port 21 of the interconnect switch, to be the only port to a related server blade, which i then can connect to a differrent VLAN on my LAN-Switch. (So that one server blade can connect to two VLANs?)

I hope my explanations are understandable, if not please ask.

Thank you very much in advance.
Florian

Re: c3000: How to connect BL460c Server to different VLANs?

Hi Florian,

you didn't mention which OS you have instaled on the blades, hope it is Windows. Check the following document :

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/networking/configvlan.pdf

Normally if Proliant support pack is installed you have Network Configuration utility.

About setting the VLANs on the switch check page 43+ :

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00701973/c00701973.pdf

and page 140 :
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00701566/c00701566.pdf

It should be as easy as :

Add a 2nd VLAN(ID) to one of the NICs(1st doc) and then configure VLAN 2 on port 20(2nd&3rd doc), then connect it to the uplink switch.

Hope this is what you meant
