getting the product number of a ProLiant BL20p G3 remotely

Hi,
I need to get the "product number" of a ProLiant BL20p G3 server. I am not at the data centre. Is there any way to get it from hpasmcli or the proliant support tools?

(also is it on the case anywhere that it won't need to be de-racked to read?)

Go to the System Management Homepage of the system:

https://127.0.0.1:2381

Under System Config go to System Info. You will find the product number under Asset Control Information

This is pretty interesting :)
Can you try installing the Proliant Support Pack again?

And check your SNMP settings - private has to be read/create and public - read/write.

The electronic serial number can be re-programmed using the ROM BIOS Setup Utility. The serial number should be on a label on the front visible with both human-readable and machine-readable (barcode) markings.

the serial number is there, its the product number that is not.

Hi Tom,

normally all HP Software(Tools) read the serial and the product number from what is entered in RBSU. I think that beside the SN, the product number must be written on the tag attached to the blade...If not you can use a product number of a blade in the same enclosure of you find one. If you haven't got one, you can check your "invoice" for the blades, there must be written, then you can enter it in RBSU and it will be shown in SMH, insight diags and so on...

Hi,

In the end I got it off the system management page of another server that was showing the product number correctly - 347957-B21

It would be interesting to see if re-installing the proliant support pack fixes the problem, and I will add it to the list of things I will do given some free time ;-)
