how works virtual connect flex10 (455880-B21)

Hi, everyone

I have some doubts how works flex10, for example with the server bl460g5: this server has 2 NICs integrated, the NIC 1 goes to interconectbay 1 and the NIC 2 goes to interconectbay 2, and the question is, how works flex10, I know that the the new G7 has two NICs integrated that es divided into 4 physical NIC each one, how is the mapping into the interconnects bays. there is some document about this.

thanks in advance

Hi Daedro,
Please note, the flex NICs on the newer blades can be subdivided into up to 4 VIRTUAL NICs.

There is only one physical downlink between LOM 1 and IC Bay 1. The 4 virtual NICs on LOM 1 all use the same physical downlink.

(LOM = "LAN-on-Motherboard" = "Integrated NIC"

Re: how works virtual connect flex10 (455880-B21)

thanks Dave, so when you say LOM1 you mean NIC1=4nics, and the LOM2 is NIC2=4nics. And if I understand well, the 4 virtual nics of the NIC1 goes to IC1 and the 4 virtualnics of the NIC2 goes to IC2, is that correct?

thanks a lot.

Short answer: yes.

When you look at your server profile in the VC manager, you will see LOM1a, LOM2a as the default available nic's.

When you add network connections, they will appear as LOM1b then LOM2b... LOM1c...LOM2c...LOM1d...LOM2d

All of the LOM1x's connect to the VC Domain via IC Bay1. All of the LOM2x's connect via IC Bay2.

The good starting point is reading the doc
