Re: redhat and grub on iscsi boot

redhat and grub on iscsi boot

hi all, i have a strange problem on booting from iscsi.
i've installed succeffully redhat 5 es on my blade bl260c with an iscsi disk.
i have used an .img mounted on virtual floppy with ks.cfg and driver for iscsi and an iso(rh5) mounted as virtual cd-rom.
after the system finish the installation and reboot he comes me with "illegal optcode" or "grub disk error".
during the installation i have choosed to install grub on sdb(iscsi disk) because sda was the virtual floppy.
i can't figure out what is the resolution for this strange behaviour.
thank in advance for any advice would come
best regards
Giulio

Re: redhat and grub on iscsi boot

It sounds like the special iscsi driver you needed to start the installation is not being copied to the newly installed system.

If this is the case, you will need to provide your own custom kernel with the driver compiled. Here are some instructions that you may be able to adapt to your needs:

I have successfully installed redhat el 5 on BL460 hardware simply by using the iso, by the way.
