HBA Firmware FAILS upgrade with FW DVD or SPP 2011.09
Guys:
I noticed that the QMH2462 Mezz HBA firmware upgrade was failing with either of the two Firmware DVDs mentioned on the Subject.
The error that the upgrade process displayed was "Return Code 8: No HBAs found".
Turns out to be that the qla2xxx driver is not getting loaded by the dvd boot process, as it's blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/hp_nofibre
As soon as you manually load the driver (by switching to the FW DVD command line WITH ctrl-alt-f1) with insmod the firmware upgrade will complete successfully.
Can we get this fixed in the 2012.01 release ?
