Onboard Administrator (OA) and USB devices

Ed was looking to do some updating via a USB device and was having problems:

Hi everyone,

New enclosure…

Installation yesterday and today is held up by not being able to mount an ISO either from a USB key (8GB – FAT32) or an AC powered USB DVD drive.

iLO virtual media works by mounting an ISO from a laptop but dies out when installing the OS.

OA is at 3.00 firmware.

Are there any issues that we’re not aware of? Or could this just be a bad OA?

Monty was looking to help:

Any OA syslog message indicating problems with the USB device?

The number of hops and gateways between the laptop and the iLO will limit the throughput – and the iLO can timeout on the virtual media.

FYI…

We had trouble with both the DVD drive and USB drive being recognized by the OA.

iLO Virtual media was ok…

So it turns out just reseating the OA did the trick.

Thanks for the responses.
