Configuration best practices between 5900AF, VC Flex-10/10D, FlexFabric 20Gb 2P 650FLB
Hi everyone,
I'm newbie to HPE blade and networking.
Our VMware vSphere environment's Ethernet part has the following component:
- 2 x HP 5900AF-48XG-4QSFP+ Switch (JC772A), each has 14 HP X130 10G SFP+ LC SR Transceiver
- Blade enclosure has 2 x 638526-B21 HP BLc VC Flex-10/10D Module Opt
- Blade server: 727021-B21 HP BL460c Gen9 10Gb/20Gb FLB CTO Blade, each has one 700764-B21 HP FlexFabric 20Gb 2P 650FLB FIO Adptr
I don't know how should I connect and configure this network for high availability and best practices. Could you please suggest some recommendations, documents or references that I should follow?
Thanks and regards,
Mr Busy

Re: Configuration best practices between 5900AF, VC Flex-10/10D, FlexFabric 20Gb 2P 650FLB
Howdy,
Probably best to:
1) "IRF" cluster/stack your 5900 switch pair together for "Faster, flatter, easier to manage" network
2) Use redundant "shared uplink sets" from virtual connect up to the 5900 pair.
HPE Cloud First Reference Architecture:
http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/getpdf.aspx/4AA5-6480ENW.pdf
A whole load of manuals including IRF Configuration Guide if you search the web for "5900 series switch" and do:
Related Links -> Technical Support/Manuals -> Manuals -> "Setup & Install - General" - >choose a manual
Also - "Virtual Connect Flexfabric cookbook" is a good primer I think the last config has a design with the A/A uplinks.
Are you implementing OneView into this environment as you might get some additional (and very useful) options over and above vanilla Virtual Connect.
HTH - if so give us a "thumbs up" :-)
Ian
