Different Ethernet switch in bay 1-2

Andrey had a customer question:

Customer would like to have a c7000 system with 1G switch and second 1:10 Switch

Please advise – is it supported to install

in bay 1  “HP GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch”

and in  bay2  “HP 6120G/XG Ethernet Blade Switch”

Reply from Gallig:

You can mix different flavors of Ethernet switches on the same interconnect row as long as you are not using both traditional Ethernet switches and Virtual Connect.

But, when mixing switches with 1Gb and 10Gb downlinks, you have to be aware that some adapters (such as Emulex) won’t be able to run properly with 1 port at 1Gb and the other at 10Gb.

From the quickspecs:

NOTE: Each port is autosensing 1Gb/10Gb, and can interoperate with 1Gb HP BladeSystem c-Class interconnect components. Both ports will operate at the same speed.
