1610-Temperature violation detected after CPU upgrade on two BL460c (first generation)

Hi,

We've got a couple of BL460c's that we've just added second CPUs in to.

During the POST they both report the error:

1610-Temperature violation detected

Waiting 5 minutes for system to cool

Press Esc key to resume booting without waiting for the system to cool.

WARNING: Pressing Esc is NOT recommended as the system may shutdown unexpectedly

The blades are well cooled, so I don't think they are really over temperature.

BIOS firmware had been upgraded to the latest, but they still display the same message and shutdown after a few seconds, even if Esc is pressed.

The only way I can get the servers to stay up is to remove the second processor.

Anybody have any idea what the issue could be ?

Regards,

Rob

Turns out the error was correct.

The CPUs had been fitted without their heat sinks...
