Boot from iSCSI Installation of Windows Server 2012 R2 on BL460c Gen8

Question from Jack:

My customer has problems loading the NIC Driver for the Windows Server 2012 R2 in the ‘boot form iSCSI’ scenario described below.

The customer is following the HP iSCSI Cookbook to install the Server 2012 R2 on BL460c Gen8 with 534FLB adapters. His iSCSI storage (P4350) is setup correctly and we tested the Red Hat installation to the LUN carved up on that storage. When installing the 2012 R2 they get to the screen where the installation disk needs to be selected. The iSCSI LUN is not visible so they go to load the network driver for the 534FLB (ver 7.10.8.0 as per the sreenshot below). When the driver loads the server reboots preventing the installation from finishing.

Appreciate any comments/experiences you may have in similar scenarios.

Jack,

When installing Windows on external storage, they can only install with a single path enabled.

After the OS is loaded on the storage, then add MPIO(even with iSCSI, no teaming of NICs) to the OS and then you can enable the second path.

First thing I would verify.
