CPU Upgrade BL460 G7
Hello.
I hope you understand German :-)
wir haben einige Server BL460c G7 mit folgenden CPUs im Einsatz (Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5640 @ 2.67GHz (4 Cores))
Aufgrund neuer Anfoderungen reichen uns die 4 Cores nicht mehr aus und wir wollen die Systeme mit einer zweiten CPU ausstatten.
Da wir einige der Systeme auch außer Betrieb nehmen werden, möchten wir gerne die freiwerdenden CPUs in die anderen Server einbauen.
Meine Frage dazu wäre, ob dies möglich und Supportet ist??
Danke für jeden passende Antwort dazu.

Quickspec lists all supported processors:

Make sure the BIOS is up to date and both CPUs are the same type.
....

Aber meine Frage ist:
Ist es supportet die erste CPU aus einem Server in einem anderen Server als zweite CPU einzubauen.
Wir möchten nicht unbedingt neue CPUs kaufen, da wir noch identische CPUs haben.
Es handels sich um die selben CPUs die auch im System supportet sind.

Klar, warum nicht?
Evtl müssen die Verträge angepasst werden, technisch ist das aber kein Problem.
Übrigens:
Die Forumregeln besagen, dass hier in englisch geschrieben werden muß.
