Re: Firmware upgrade

You asked this before, right?

It is probably a BL860c i2 with bundle 26.11 installed (around 2011).

Get the files (for windows or linux) from web (registration required), run HP SUM on a PC or whatever and update the firmware.

Current bundles include blade, OA and VC firmware.

Just follow the instructions!

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

My query is before starting the activity what needs to be taken care off.

I am planning to take the backup of all the 4 servers OS as well as file system. My queries are as follows.

1) Shall i take the OS back up of all 4 servers on different tape.(OS & File Syste)

2)If the base OS firmware upgrade ,what resources will get upgraded & what level we have to upgrade either n-1 or

Re: Firmware upgrade

Exactly. Doing this way will update the servers firmware.

You probably need to update the smart array controller and mezzanine card firmware separately (prefered directly from EFI). You will find the files in the download section f the server. Don't forget to update the OA as well and the blade interconnects.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware upgrade

Power of this blade and run HP SUM against the ILO IP address. Check OA and interconnects too. Don't forget the other I/O of this server as mentioned earlier.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Firmware upgrade

Here is the smart array firmware:

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=4186429&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3DswEnvOID%253D54%257CswLang%253D%257Caction%253DlistDriver&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken#Firmware%20-%20Storage%20Controller

and LOM firmware:

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=4186429&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3DswEnvOID%253D54%257CswLang%253D%257Caction%253DlistDriver&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken#Firmware%20-%20Network

unpack the files, copy to an USB stick, connect the device and boot into EFI, run the update according to the instructions.

Hope this helps!
