Hello,
I'm looking to upgrade the processor of HP BL460c Gen8 E5-2640 1P 32GB Svr (666160-B21) with HPE BL460c Gen9 Intel Xeon E5-2690v3 (2.6GHz/12-core/30MB/135W) Processor Kit (726987-B21).
According to HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen8 Server Blade - Overview, https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c03241047&sp4ts.oid=5177951, this would be compatible.
I’m new to servers and I’m a bit reluctant since the BL460c is Gen8 and the processor is for the Gen9.
Appreciate any advise.

Re: HP BL460c Gen8 Processor Upgrade
If you are looking to replace your CPU in the Gen8 with this CPU E5-2690v3 (2.6GHz/12-core/30MB/135W) then it will not work.
Gen8 support V1 and V2 CPU.
To get the V3 CPU you would need to go to a Gen9 blade.
