Help needed C7000 Firmware Upgrade
Hi All,
I am pretty new to HP C7000
We are planning for installing new HP BL460c Gen8 in our existing C7000 Enclosure, hence need your help ,guidance and expertise with the upgrade plan for existing Blades
Current Status:
- Onboard Administrator Firmware Level 3.21 Nov 15 2010 [456204-B21]
- HP 1/10Gb-F VC-Enet Module Bay1and2 Firmware Level 3.18 [447047-B21]
- Blade status as below:
I need your kind guidance with below:
- For Blades only ILO Upgrade will be enough or ROM FW upgrade will be also needed for Blades?
- How should be the upgrade flow, what i have gathered until now suggests that do the Blades first, OA and finally VC.
- Best Approach to do the Upgrade will SPP take care of the needed dependencies and Upgrade path ?
- What should be the pre-upgrade tasks that you would suggest ?
Thanks in advance

Re: Help needed C7000 Firmware Upgrade
first see
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=mmr_kc-0100204-12
about mixing!
Carefully read about minimum and maximum versions!!!
Your VC module can have version 3.61, no newer version is supported!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Help needed C7000 Firmware Upgrade
Thanks Torsten :)
I did saw that Firmware Compatibility Matrix, so we shouldnt go beyond 3.61 for VC Module ? cos link suggests minimum 3.51 and Max 4.31
- Could you please also help me with the Blades, will they need upgrade of ILO or BIOS ?
- Would using SPP be the best way to update the OA and VC firmware or should i do manual update?
Thanks once again !!!
Regards,
Eliyas

Re: Help needed C7000 Firmware Upgrade
From release notes of VC firmware:
Beginning with VC 3.70, the HP 1/10Gb VC Enet Module (399593-B22) and the
HP 1/10Gb-F VC Enet Module (447047-B21) are no longer supported. Beginning with VC 4.10,
the HP 4Gb VC-FC Module (409513-B21) is no longer supported.
In general first update the blades drivers, BIOS, firmware and ILO, the virtual connect and OA firmware.
A new SPP should come out soon.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
