So you just have the blade server? No C7000 chassis to plug it in?

You cannot run this server without a C3000 or C7000 chassis. You need it for power control, cooling, I/O etc ...

Hope this helps!

Looks like they mounted a fan at the top. However, you can easily destroy it that way and it will be rather useless without any I/O ...

Hope this helps!

Looks like he actually had a C7000 power supply, hacked up the cases and mounted fans. The video said something about changing switch settings, before it would power up. He was going to have to plug in USB NIC on the dongle as all the normal I/O comes out of the connector on the rear that plugs into the chassis backplane.

Maybe a fun experiment if you have a bunch of free time, but I'm sure there are eaier ways to DIY an old Xeon system

If you don't have the dongle to plug in the front, you have no video, no keyboard/mouse.

Re: Hp Proliant BL460c g1 blinking red light *no rack

The dongle that plugs in the front has video, USB, and a way to get to iLO.  The primary purpose of the dongle is for maintenance. The BL460 is a blade server, it doesn't have the normal connections like a regular PC or server as it is primarily designed to be run headless (without keyboard or video). The large connector on the back carries signals such as the NICs into the backplane of the chassis it plugs into.  The chassis provides the cooling, and I/O interconnects.

This server is not designed to be run as a stand-alone system. Could one cobble up some parts and pieces to make it work; probably, but why would you want too?
