Installation of Windows Server 2008/2012 on SD Card - HP Gen8 BL460c

Is it possible to install Server 2008 or 2012 R2 on the 64 SD card that is utilized with the HP Gen8 BL460c servers? I assumed the SD card would only be utilized for ESXi installations or Hyper-V 2012.

If this is possible, would this even be considered under best practices?

As far as I know it's not possible to install Server 2008/2012 on an SD. That is a MS limitation, not a HP limitation.

However as you mention it is possible to install Hyper-V/ESXi on the SD card.
Then you could install the host OS on SAN and utilise all of the direct attached hard drives as storage without sharing it with the OS (if that was your purpose in the first place).

Did my post help? Thank me with kudo's! :)

This technical paper would be a good place to start
