LAN ports of BL860c i2 server in C3000 enclosure
Hello all,
We have a C3000 enclosure which hosts 1 BL860c i2 server and 1 BL460c G7.
GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch and HP 1Gb Ethernet Pass-Thru Module for c-Class BladeSystem are also present.
Port mapping of Ethernet Blade Switch is shown in attached pic1 and port mapping of Ethernet Pass-Thru Module is shown in attached pic2.
I have enabled 2 LAN ports in each server but although I can connect to BL460c G7 LAN ports (1 & 9 of Ethernet Pass-Thru Module), I cannot connect to the ones of BL860c i2 (3 & 11). I don't receive any reply on ping.
Port mapping of the servers are also attached.
Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Panagiotis.

Re: LAN ports of BL860c i2 server in C3000 enclosure
Usually lan0 to lan3.
First try
# nwmgr -g -v -c lan0
for all LOMs.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: LAN ports of BL860c i2 server in C3000 enclosure
Hello,
I have checked ports 7 & 15 and they are not working. they are not even blinking when connected.
I also ran the nwmgr command and it dispays all ports (lan0-lan3) as active.
Any other suggestion?

Re: LAN ports of BL860c i2 server in C3000 enclosure
If you use the 1Gb Pass-Thru, you need to connect a 1Gb switch, any lower or higher speed will not work.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: LAN ports of BL860c i2 server in C3000 enclosure
nwmgr does not show any link.
Can you please explain what do you mean regarding the ports speed?
The server's lan ports are listed are as 10Gbps Full Duplex.
Can this be a problem?

Re: LAN ports of BL860c i2 server in C3000 enclosure
Ports are
N
N+4
N+8
N+12
where N is the slot of the server.
What is in interconnect bay 1?
Could you please post a
# ioscan -fn
of the server?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: LAN ports of BL860c i2 server in C3000 enclosure
Even if the LOMs (LAN on Motherboard) are 10Gb, if you use the 1Gb pass-thru you must connect a 1Gb external port to the pass-thru module, any lower or higher speed does not work.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

A GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch is in interconnect bay 1.
Attached is a picture showing the output of ioscan command.
