P712m can't see 6Gb SAS switches

Probably some brain f*rt on my part but I have some blades (BL465c G7) in a c7000 enclosure with P712m SAS cards. The problem is the cards cannot see any SAS devices (neither tape nor drives) and the 6G SAS switch can't see the cards either. Even the OA doesn't see the cards talking to the 6G SAS. on the port mapping (although the cards are visible in the slots).

The cards *are* in the correct mezzanine slot and swapping them with P700 cards demonstrate the links are working, zones are fine etc. It is in single initiator mode.

What am I forgetting about ? I am pretty sure this hardware combination has worked before and my next step is to take the firmware back a little as it is all up-to-date.

Doh!  The p712m is a 2-lane device and not a 4-lane device.
