Upgrade BL870i2

Hi all,

Does any of you have specific information about how I can make a upgrade to BL870i2, and what is needed?

I mean can I add only one single BL860i2 to my BL870i2 or I need 2 of them in order to go to BL890i2?

Then I need for the 2 extra Bl860i2 a HP Integrity Upgrade BL2 Blade Link and then a HP Integrity Upgrade BL4 Blade Link to go from my BL870i2 to BL890i2, or only the HP Integrity Upgrade BL4 Blade Link ?

Hi Tiberiu,

Going from a BL870c i2 to a BL890c i2 (your only upgrade choice) is categorized as an addition.  You’ll need to order the two upgrade Blades and the BL4 (Blade Link 4 for the correct enclosure), along with the required OE licenses and support level.  Be sure to keep in mind the memory and processor requirements for BL890c i2 Servers, which can be found in the Server documentation.

   You don’t have to buy any extra BL860Ci2.

  In your case, Just buy  2 of AM360A (No CPU Included) + AM359A  BL4 ( for C7000 enclosure).

AM366A	HP Integrity Upgrade BL4-c3 Blade Link	For BL890c i2 used in a c3000 enclosure

  If the existing  BL870Ci2 processor is less than 4 .  You need to purchase more  the same processor model. Because BL870Ci2 need at least 4 processor. Then the purchase of HP-UX and other software also need to have the license for new processor. Memory also has the minimum configuration. Those your existing might cover that. (Check with the document).
