Upgrade HP BL460c G7 E5620 6G 1P Svr (603588-B21)
Hello,
I plan to upgrade HP BL460c G7 E5620 6G 1P Svr (603588-B21)
I need to add one more E5620 processor and increase amount of RAM to 24 GB
I need somebody to check that I have selected the correct part nambers from the spare parts list before order:
http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=603588-B21
For the second processor I selected:
508955-001 CPU heatsink - Bulldozer type - Includes processor alcohol pad
594887-001 ntel Xeon E5620 Quad-Core 64-bit processor - 2.40GHz (Westmere-EP, 12MB Level-3 cache, Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) speed 5.86 GT/s, 80 watt thermal design power (TDP), FCLGA 1366 socket)
For the memory I have selected
500662-B21 HP 8GB (1x8GB) Dual Rank x4 PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333) Registered CAS-9 Memory Kit
Are these parts correct and enough to make an upgrade?
Thank you
and Kind Regards
Maxim

Re: Upgrade HP BL460c G7 E5620 6G 1P Svr (603588-B21)
Maxim,
Instead of ordering the heatsink and processor separately, why not just order the processor kit; Part# 612127-L21/B21, HP BL460c G7 Intel® Xeon® E5620 (2.40GHz/4-core/12MB/80W) FIO Processor Kit? The memory you selected is listed in the QuickSpecs for the G7, though if you're adding memory, you may need to match what you currently have.

Re: Upgrade HP BL460c G7 E5620 6G 1P Svr (603588-B21)
Scott,
Thank you for the reply.
I have another question.
Can I install following memory module
8GB dual in-line memory module (DIMM), PC3L-12800R-11, 1Rx4, single rank
Part number 735302-001
to my HP BL460c G7 E5620 6G 1P Svr (603588-B21) ?
According to specs, the 603588-B21 server supports only PC3-10600R-9 memory.
But does the PC3L-12800R-11 backward compatible?
Ia there a garatee that it will work in my server?
Thank you.
