WS460c G6 Workstation Blade detected as BL460c G6
Sadiq had a blade question:
************
Need some suggestion on getting the below issue resolved as soon as possible.
Issue: HP WS460c G6 Blade is getting detected as BL460c G6. HP Graphics Expander X16 and Remote Console Mode is not available in RBSU.
Have anyone seen similar issue earlier.
We have replaced the System Board and a few other parts to resolve the issue but unfortunately, the issue still persists.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Input from Karl:

After you replace the system board, you must re-enter the workstation blade serial number and the Product ID.
1. During the workstation blade startup sequence, press the F9 key to access RBSU.
2. Select the Advanced Options menu.
3. Select Service Options.
4. Select Serial Number. The following warnings appear:
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! The serial number is loaded into the system during
the manufacturing process and should NOT be modified. This option should only
be used by qualified service personnel. This value should always match the
serial number sticker located on the chassis.
Warning: The serial number should ONLY be modified by qualified personnel.
This value should always match the serial number located on the chassis.
5. Press the Enter key to clear the warning.
6. Enter the serial number and press the Enter key.
7. Select Product ID. The following warning appears:

Re: WS460c G6 Workstation Blade detected as BL460c G6
If you ever receive an Bl460cGen8 that is identified as a WS460cGen8 or vise versa (and the server is new out of the box) then please engage HP support on this matter as there is a special jumper setting that needs to be changed. We have seen very few of these but in case it happens its good to have this reported back to hp in a formal way so we can have feeded this back into the factory teams. Cheers, jeroen

Re: WS460c G6 Workstation Blade detected as BL460c G6
We had the same issue with one of 4 new WS460C G6. The problem was caused by a wrong internal cabling.
The PCIE/SAS cables on position 1 and 2 were swapped. After fixing this the blade was discovered correctly.
See Maintenance and Service Guide page 31.
