SB40c Storage blade firmware info??

Alex had an SB40c Storage Blade  firmware question:

*************************

Hi Gurus,

Can anyone point me to the location of the release notes / advisory for SB40c 2.20 firmware as I have a customer who needs to know what the firmware release fixes before they are willing to take a hit on downtime.

Is the release just for new hardware support or for know issues?

Many thanks,

Monty had some info:

The OA report of SB40c firmware is on an “xMIC” component (SASMIC, TAPEMIC, PCIMIC, etc) used by the OA to communicate and control power and cooling for each partner blade (see the enclosure management diagram and description in the c7000 or c3000 Enclosure Tech Brief).

The OA firmware Revision History indicates that in OA v2.25, the SB40c firmware image was updated.

  • Modified the OA firmware for the following partner blades which corrects a problem with erroneous partner power requests when the server blade is power cycled:
    • HP StorageWorks SB40c Storage Blade
    • HP StorageWorks SB1760c Tape Blade, HP StorageWorks SB1760c Tape Blade, HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448c Tape Blade
    • PCI Expansion blade
    • HP Graphics Expansion Blade (for the HP ProLiant xw460c Workstation Blade)

The OA carries the latest xMIC firmware image for each of the partner blades in the OA firmware itself.

The partner blade firmware can only be updated from the OA CLI using the “update device blade” command, as detailed in the CA c01531636 advisory http://h41302.www4.hp.com/km/saw/view.do?docId=emr_na-c01531636&hsid=17002030

The associated server blade must be powered off prior to the SB40c firmware being updated – as this firmware update will result in loss of power to the SB40c (or any other partner blade) while that firmware component is updated.

After the SB40c is updated successfully, the server can be powered on.

Hope that helps Alex. Any other help or comments?
