Upgrading MSA 2040 to MSA 2050

Hi all,

According to the topic on the link:
https://community.hpe.com/t5/MSA-Storage/What-are-the-required-part-numbers-for-upgrading-an-MSA-2040-to/td-p/7058103#.YJpz2rUzaCg
controller enclosure (chassis) needs to be replaced as MSA 2050.
MSA2040 doesn't use linear vdisks.

Is it possible to increase the cache size on the controller from 4 to 8GB on the MSA2040?

Is there anything else to improve?

Thanks.

Re: Upgrading MSA 2040 to MSA 2050

Hi,

The cache of the MSA controllers is not an upgradable option.

Apart from this follow the power of 2 guidelines while creating a new disk group in MSA 2050.

We have noticed significant sequential write performance  improvement when power of 2 configuration method is followed while creating disk groups.

Use MSA health check utility to confirm array health status and install any updates including hard drive and controller firmware as recommended:
