Hi all,
We have one C7000 blade enclosure with two redondant VC 1/10G modules installed in it. On each VC module, we have one 10Gb/s fiber connection. We installed one BL460G7 with NC553i integrated 10Gb/s network board in this enclosure. Now, we would like to use one ethernet port of this machine at maximum speed i.e 10Gb/s.
We configure one network with the two 10Gb/s connections:
->show network PRI-GPFS-PRIM-DEDICATED
Name : PRI-GPFS-PRIM-DEDICATED
Status : OK
Smart Link : Disabled
State : Enabled
Connection Mode : Auto
Native VLAN : Disabled
Private : Disabled
VLAN Tunnel : Disabled
Preferred Speed : 10Gb
Max Speed : 10Gb
External Uplink Ports
=========================================================
Port Name Status Type Speed
=========================================================
1 enc0:1:X3 Linked (Standby) (10Gb) XFP-SR 10Gb
2 enc0:2:X3 Linked (Active) (10Gb) XFP-SR 10Gb
And linked this network to one of the ethernet port of the machine:
->show enet-connection GPFS2
Profile : GPFS2
Port : 1
Server : enc0:10
Network Name : PRI-GPFS-PRIM-DEDICATED
PXE : UseBIOS
MAC Address : <Factory-Default>
Allocated Speed : 1Gb
Configured Speed : 10Gb
Port Mapping : LOM:1
Status : OK
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Profile : GPFS2
Port : 2
Server : enc0:10
Network Name : PRI-MGMT-PRIM
PXE : UseBIOS
MAC Address : <Factory-Default>
Allocated Speed : 1Gb
Configured Speed : 1Gb
Port Mapping : LOM:2
Status : OK
But, after many tests, the machine still negociate at 1Gb/s for the port configureted at 10Gb/s. Have we done something wrong? What's the meaning of "Allocated Speed" in ethernet connection description?
Thx!

SolutionThe VC 1/10 module provides 1Gb ports to the servers and 10GbE ports to the uplinks. If you want 10GbE to the server you need to use one of the following interconnect modules
VC Flex-10 Ethernet Module
VC FlexFabric 10Gb/24-port Module
ProCurve 6120 switch
10GbE Pass-Thru Module
