Corrupted VC Profile - any change to move the WWNs to a new profile?

Frauke had a customer problem:

One of my customer had a corrupted VC profile. We solved the problem by deleting the old profile, creating a new one and assigned this to that sever.

As he had to reconfigure his SAN for the new WWNs, he asked me wether there is any way to get the "old" WWN and MAC addresses in the new profile.

Any chance to get those back to the new profile?

Once the profile has been deleted, the previous hp-defined macs and wwns are returned to the pool.  Normally, those would be allocated first on the next profile that is created.  But if you want to ensure that the same profiles are retrieved from the pool, use the CLI to create the profile.  You can specify the macs and wwns in conjunction with the ‘add fc-connection’ and ‘add enet-connection’ commands.

For example:

add profile Sample_Profile  -NoDefaultEnetConn –NoDefaultFCconn

add enet-connection Sample network=NetA EthernetMAC=<mac_address>

add fc-connection Sample_Profile Fabric=FabricA PortWWN=<Port WWN> NodeWWN=<Node WWN>

Any other comments or questions?

Why not put this feature into the GUI? It would enhance visiblity that such things are even possible with VC.
