Deploying a VMware vSphere HA Cluster with HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric
This white paper provides an illustration of how to install and build a VMware ESX 4.0 HA cluster with HP ProLiant server blades and HP Virtual Connect (VC) FlexFabric. The focus of the document is on the steps necessary to configure the VC FlexFabric modules based on a proof-of-concept environment. The white paper includes more complex details covering VLAN configurations, NIC teaming and configurations for ESX 4.0.
Using the steps detailed in the white paper, a VM was previously created and both planned and unplanned failover tests were successfully executed for live migration and Fibre Channel fail-over.
For an excellent overview of implementing VMware vSphere 4 in a datacenter environment, read the guides on HP VMware alliance solutions site at http://www.hp.com/go/vmware.
