Enclosure stacking C7000 QTY 2 - Fails to accept credentials on Enclosure 2 when doing the import

Pierre was looking for some assistance:

***********************************************************************************************************************

We are having an error message when trying to get 2, C7000 enclosures stacked with Virtual Connect. Message indicates to verify IP and credentials, both enclosures have identical configs, credentials are working ok on seperate browser (IE6)

.

Tried reset OA, DAC cable on ports X0 on both enclosures.

Anybody else come across this?  Enclosure 1 has existing Domain. Enclosure 2 nothing, if you try to log in to VC, it will want to run the wizard. Customer planning to have qty. 4 enclosues eventually.

You didn’t mention whether this configuration has been working and stopped working, or you are trying to add a second enclosure to an existing Virtual Connect single enclosure domain.

OA and VC firmware versions?  VC 2.10 required for multiple enclosure domains.

Were both enclosures set up as separate VC domains?  You must delete the domain on the second enclosure before attempting to import that enclosure into an existing Virtual Connect domain.

Monty was looking to help but needed some info.

Pierre tried some things and here was the result.

Yes, Only 1 domain on enclosure 1, enclosure has no domain. Onboard Administrator at ver. 3.0,  VC-Flex10 2.32 bays 1 -2 on both enclosures, has 1Gb passthroughs in 5-6 . 8Gb FC 24 ports in 3-4 .

Noticed Enclosure 1 had bay 2 as active VCM, switched to bay1 to be active, reset VCM (failover) then it worked, had to clear vcmode on enclousre 2...

Re: Enclosure stacking C7000 QTY 2 - Fails to accept credentials on Enclosure 2 when doing the impor

I'm wondering if this might be due to the shared port nature of port 1 on the VC module?

We didn't realize this, and had wired a fiber uplink in port 1, and later began using CX4 cables to stack our enclosures.  After doing the Enclosure Import, we saw simimlar sounding credential issues, but the real problem was that our stacking links didn't work because of the fiber uplinks in port 1.

This was corrected we moved the gibcs and fibers over to port 2 and everything magically greened up.
