HP 1/10Gb-F VC-Enet 4x LACP ports but speed is still 1gb. not aggregating all ports ?
I have a cisco 4006 with 4 LAG ports connected to the HP 1/10Gb-F VC-Enet Module. Enet module LAG ID is all 26 (same lag id for all 4 Ethernet ports). Cisco reports all 4 ports as neighbors etc.
I created a SUS with 4 ports (4x1 gb ports all the ports on the LAG) and then created 4 ethernet networks that use the SUS trunk as a connection and this ethernet networks have Vlan IDs (vlans101 102 103 104).
Assigned to the profile as multiple networks to each LOM , all 4 vlans. I should had known something is not right when the allocated bandwidth is 1 gb on the edit server profile page. EVEn if i set the custom port speed to 10 gb.
At the OS level, the host is 2008 r2 and it shows the 2 x 10 g cards when I install the drivers. but !
when I configured the Vlans on the NCU ... but they show as 1 gig connections... and they move data at 1 gig speeds..
I was expecting them to be as the speed of the LAG which is 4x1 gig.
why the allowed bandwidth on the server profile is 1gb when i have a 4x1gb lag group ?
It almost looks like instead of aggregating the ports is just using them as 4 different paths.
Any help appreciated !!!

Re: HP 1/10Gb-F VC-Enet 4x LACP ports but speed is still 1gb. not aggregating all ports ?
hi,
we are talking about 2 different link speed here on VC
1. uplink bandwidth:(your external cables and links doing LACP to cat4k, it's 4G as you mentioned)
2. downlink bandwith to each server:(this is internal midplane wiring to server, VC 1/10 has 16 1G link going to 16 server bays. this is the link speed showing in server profile screen)
so it doesn't matter how many cables you have at uplink or if you have a G7 server which has 10G CNA on board. VC1/10 module downlink speed is 1G to each individual server.
VC module for 10G server connectivity is either Flex-10(pure ethernet) or FlexFabric(FCOE/Ethernet to server and FC/Ethernet to upstream switch)

Ahh ! I didn't`t know that (clearly :P). With his this module, no matter what we do.. Max speed is 2x1gb. And there is no way around it ?
Is there any documented specs for HP on this ? I ll like to show management why is good to spend the extra money in more expensive felx 10 technologies, instead of cheaping out.
Thanks for your answer !

HP Proliant use "Quickspec" for H/W specification. you can google hp quickspec and download PC application or here are html links
