My current setup is
Using Share Uplink Sets -
External Uplink Ports -
Uplink Set Name "TrunktoCore"
Bay1 Port 1, Port 2, Port 3, Port 4
Bay2 Port 1, Port 2, Port 3
Connection Mode Auto
Ethernet Networks
Network Name - VLAN4
External Ports
Use Shared Uplink SEts
Shared Uplink Set "TrunktoCore"
External VLAN ID : 4
Network Name - VLAN5
External Ports
Use Shared Uplink SEts
Shared Uplink Set "TrunktoCore"
External VLAN ID : 5
I would like to use the 10Gib CX4 and remove all the 1Gb RJ45.
I was thinking if I could do it like this
Using Share Uplink Sets -
External Uplink Ports -
Uplink Set Name "TrunktoCore10Gig"
Bay1 Port X2
Bay2 Port X2
Connection Mode Auto
Ethernet Networks
Network Name - NEWVLAN4
External Ports
Use Shared Uplink SEts
Shared Uplink Set "TrunktoCore10Gig"
External VLAN ID : 4
Network Name - NEWVLAN5
External Ports
Use Shared Uplink SEts
Shared Uplink Set "TrunktoCore10Gig"
External VLAN ID : 5
On each server profile assign "NEWVLAN4" for the Ethernet Network Connections.
Will the above work?
Or is there some other approach
Thanks,
Suhail.

Re: HP VC 1/10Gb - move from 1Gb uplink to 10Gb CX4 uplink
If you have a maintenance window I would guess that you could add the two te ports to your current SUS's and then phase out the existing 1G's. If you want to aggregate the two ports and aren't using Nexus they will need to go to the same switch and LACP will need to be on.

Re: HP VC 1/10Gb - move from 1Gb uplink to 10Gb CX4 uplink
Thanks for the reply.
I do not have a maintenance window.
Can we assign same VLAN ID number to a new SUS which will have different physical ports?
Then I can go one blade at a time and change the server profiles to point the network connections to the newly created network name.
I will be aggregating ports- different VC Module, Same External Cisco Switch.
Thanks.

SolutionSure you can assign the same vlan ID to different SUS with different ports. As long as you have unique vnet name, VC will be happy. This is actually how VC active/active design works.
Your current config will have some uplink ports as standby because you have one SUS covering both modules so you are using VC active/standby design.
the method you mentioned should work but as Psychonaut, you can use the same SUS and same vnet, just first delete old 1G ports and DO NOT apply and then go ahead to add 2 10G ports and then APPLY, that should switch the SUS to 10G ports.
I suggest for either way, you should do it at off hours just in case anything happens.
