LLDP Needed? Pro's and Con's?
Hi, Wondering the importance of LLDP enabled on Cisco Core? Page 44 mentions enabling for more detailed information of uplink ports and core switch connections. I imagine this is optional, just wondering pros/cons of enabled or not enabling? Thank you for any thoughts! Shawn http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01386629/c01386629.pdf

LLDP Needed? Pro's and Con's?
Correct, LLDP is not required. One advantage of having LLDP enabled is that it gives you a clear view in the VC Manager of which switch and port number each uplink port is connected to upstream (it would be notated under the connected to section of the bay/port) -- similar to how the stacking link shows the connected module/port number. This is great for verifying initial deployment connections and troubleshooting. VC also uses LLDP to dynamically create external stacking links. Take a look at the LLDP section of the VC for Cisco Administrators white paper -- it should provide a more clearer picture of LLDP and Cisco integration. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01386629/c01386629.pdf Thanks, Dave
