Multi-Enclosure Stacking using fiber cables (ethernet)

Andrew had a Multi-Enclosure Stacking (MES) question:

I'm trying to find if two enclosures can be stacked together using SFP+ SR fiber modules and fibre cables - for longer distance within the datacenter. Customer wants the enclosures to be over 7m apart.

Is this supported? I can only find references to DAC cables in the examples/documents I have found so far.
