Question on Ports X7 and X8 for Virtual Connect Flex-10 module

Question from Pedrag:

*****************

One question:

Can the cross link ports (for example X7 and X8 on Flex 10 module) be used to transmit package from bay 1 to bay 2 in moment when uplink from bay 1 fails?

Example:

Customer has two Flex 10 and both of them has two uplinks connected to two upstream switches:

Bay 1 Flex 10 X1 goes to switch 1 and X2 to switch 2 Also, bay 2 Flex 10 X1 goes to switch 1 and X2 to switch 2

This is the only way customer wants to have.

If both uplink ports X1 and X2 from one module, for example bay 1 fails, what will be scenario:

1.    whether the already sent package will be redirected  thru X7 or X8 cross link to bay 2 and thru uplink port out of domain

2.    or crosslink port are not responsible for packages transimittion, only for exchange of domain configuration, status

3.    But second path thru bay 2 (active or in this case stand by) will be activated and continue transmit packages from server (NIC teaming)

This is not question about right setup, only to acknowledge what is the behaviour of crosslink ports between adjacent modules?

Info from Ishak:

******************

If your case is just the uplink bay1 fail and you have connected the x7 or x8 bay 1 with x7/x8 bay2. The traffic will be across to the cross link then will go out using the uplink from bay2.

You still need nic teaming in case of the failed one is vc module.

And a reply from Dan:

This works as you indicated but only when configured in an active/standby configuration.

in an active/active configuration the packets will not go across the cross link.
