Question on the difference between the VCFC 8GB 20Port and VCFC 8GB 24Port SPF/s

Steve had a Virtual Connect Fibre Channel cable question:

******************

Ok, does anyone know the difference between the SPF/s for the two VCFC 8GB interconnects. Our product Bulletins and Sales builder show different model SFP/s between the 20 and 24 ports switches.

VCFC 8GB 20 Ports Shows - 8Gb Optical Transceivers (SFP+)Short Wave 8Gb - 75m P/N AJ718A VCFC 8GB 24 Ports Shows - 8Gb Optical Transceivers (SFPs)Short Wave HP 8Gb SW B-series FC SFP+ P/N AJ716A

Why the difference SPF/s? Will either work in the other interconnects switch? Are the VCFC Switches made by different manufactures? Assuming yes.

I have a customer asking because he received the wrong SFP/s based on the product quickspecs.

Yes, each VC FC module is made by two different manufacturers and the SFP transceivers are different and do need to be the correct ones.

There is a restriction for the VC-FC 8Gb/24 port as it will only work with B-Series SFP.

No restriction on the VC-FC 8Gb/20 port modules.
