Replacement of 8GB/24Port VC-FC modules with 16GB/24Port modules

Hello All,

we have an Production setup based on - OneView, Virtual Connect Modules and a MIX of HP ProLiant BL460c G9 and HP ProLiant BL460c G10 Blade-Servers.

Right now the environment is based on VC-FC 8GB/24Port fibre-Channel modules.

Due to throughput, increade of servers and workload and workload we need to upgrade to VC-FC 16GB/24Port Fibre-Channel modules.

As the environemtn is holding the production - ORACLE-RAC - Farm we we are looing for an upgrade path where we can achieve that on the fly, or at least with a minimum of downtime.

Our setup is as follows:

Version Kind Usage OA-Firmware VC-Ethernet-Firmware VC-Fibrechannel-Firmware

G3 C7000 - Platinum Enclosure MBB-RAC 4.80 4.62 3.09

Hi Eugen,

Good day,

Firmware upgrade path should be : Blade->OA->VC

Its important to keep Oneview backup, also keep LE dump.

Its is not suggested to do these activity one the fly, better to plan a downtime.

You need to unassign VC profiles, create SAN path and reassign the VC profiles.

also ensure that you have multipath configured and tested in your current setup.

Firmware details mentioned is good, however for further reference please go through following link:

About the two VC module,

Both appears to have same specification.
