Smal Form Factor Pluggable Transceivers (SFP) speeds in Flex-10
Steve had a SFP question:
***************
I have a problem onsite with some SFP's in Flex-10 modules.
We are using 453154-B21 1GB RJ45 SFP & 455883-B21 10GB Fibre SFP+ and as far as I can see neither will run at anything less than their maximum speed.
The customer has provided 100MB copper and 1GB fibre cabling but neither will work with these SFP's.
VCM does not appear to have any option to force the SFP to run at the lower speed - just 1GB & Auto or 10GB and Auto.
Should I be able to use these SFP with the customer port speeds provided and if so how?
***************
From Chris:
*****************
The 1Gb transceivers do not support connecting to less than 1Gb. There are no 100Mb options for VC Flex-10/FlexFabric, other than the original VC 1/10 Copper and Fiber modules (the built-in copper RJ-45 ports do support 100Mb.)
*****************
Hope this helps. Any comments or questions?
