Support for (2) SAN Fabrics on a pair of VC FlexFabric modules

Dale had a customer question:

*********

I received this inquiry from a customer that wants to host (2) agencies with separate SAN fabrics on a single pair and staying autonomous with each other.

The 1st question has to do with the support (2) separate SAN fabrics on a single FlexFabric pair, which I believe should be supported?

The 2nd question has to do with the separate Virtual Connect profiles being able to address either SAN A or SAN B and not having to worry about bridging the SAN fabrics in any way, which I also believe should be supported?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Info from Holger:

  1. Yes it is possible to configure 4 different fabrics to 1 pair of VC FF Modules

2. In the network area there are “Network Access Groups”possible, which are not for SAN.

So you have to keep in mind which server profile gets access to which SAN Fabric / LUN.

But in general the HBA talks to the storage controller directly, so no SAN bridging will occur from one SAN fabric to the other via the server HBA.
