Unable to update FW virtual connect

I have a virtual connect 455880-B21
it has FW version 3.18.  I am trying to update the
firmware to 3.30 then to 3.60

I have updated vcsu.exe to 1.7
when I try to update I recieve:

[Fri Oct 12 06:51:59 2012] (9328)[VcsuInit.cpp:411] : VCSU Library Version: 1.7.0.72
[Fri Oct 12 06:52:00 2012] (9328)[VcsuCore.cpp:1292] : VCM IP Address: 1.1.1.1  (for security reasons)

[Fri Oct 12 06:52:00 2012] (9328)[VcsuCore.cpp:1293] : VCM Firmware Version: 3.18
[Fri Oct 12 06:52:00 2012] (9328)[AuthenticateUser.cpp:150] : Error: Unknown target type
[Fri Oct 12 06:52:00 2012] (9328)[VcsuLib.cpp:90] : Cleanup failed for one or more reasons

I have tripled verified the IP address so I do know it is correct
WHY???

Re: Unable to update FW virtual connect

Hi Ross,

Have you tried using the HP Service Pack for ProLiant? You will be able to perform discovery before carrying out the update. This might help in getting a better idea as to where the issue is coming from.

You can download the HP Service Pack for ProLiant from here: http://bit.ly/oHW7lT

Hope this helps.

Re: Unable to update FW virtual connect

I remember there was a problem to update to 3.60. Why not upgrade to 3.70?

Or upgrade to 3.51 first, then to 3.60.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Unable to update FW virtual connect

I ran across this problem myself, same error in the log file.  Turns out I was entering the IP address of the VC for the first prompt asking for the OA address.  So if you see this, don't be dumb like me, and use the IP that vcsu is asking you for - the Onboard Administrator IP.
